Process Exhaust Dispersion
- Predict dilution of exhaust onsite
 Airflow modeling was used to reveal exhaust dispersion and external airflow patterns around this high technology manufacturing facility. The top image shows an exhaust plume from a scrubbed exhaust stack with an accidental chemical release occurring. A detectable odor would be evident within the red plume shown. The bottom image shows streamlines revealing eddies in which exhaust contaminants remain for extended periods of time.
Dispersion Improvement Studies
- Compare alternatives (stack heights, exhaust velocities)
 The scrubbed exhaust stack height was optimized for a new scrubber to reduce the risk of an odor impact during an accidental chemical release. The top image shows dilution at the air intake below the minimum dilution required to prevent odor. By raising the stack 12 ft. the dilution at the intake is raised above the minimum dilution required.
