AIRFLOW MODELING SERVICES

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is an advanced tool for precision airflow modeling that benefits a wide range of industries. For both new and existing air distribution systems, CFD modeling can save time otherwise spent on conventional design and troubleshooting methods, and increase confidence limits for aerodynamic solutions.

Airflow modeling consulting allows a project team to graphically see in three dimensions how a facility or product design will perform under a variety of simulated conditions. The effects of design variables such as room layout, equipment layout, airflow velocities, air intake/exhaust placement, and air movement design may be tested & optimized.

Expertise

  1. Cleanroom Design. Optimize cleanroom performance to meet the criteria for airflow parallelism, velocity uniformity, local mean age of air, temperature & humidity variation, and airborne molecular contamination control.
  2. Data Center Design & Renovation. Predict overall temperature & pressure fields for any data center/server room configuration. Quantify the efficiency of the cooling system serving these spaces and minimize local areas of high temperature that can attack critical IT systems.
  3. High Performance Building Design. Optimize passive systems including the sizing and placement of natural ventilation openings, wind towers, and thermal mass walls/ceilings; optimize active systems such as displacement ventilation and underfloor air distribution.
  4. Site Airflow Analysis. Determine effects of building geometry and site layout on exhaust dilution and flow path direction. Determine proper stack design and placement to minimize risk of re-entry harmful exhaust fumes.
  5. Laboratory/Pharmaceutical (GMP) Airflow Study. Analyze air mixing, fume hood capture, heat transfer, space pressurization, and temperature control.
  6. Product Development Develop virtual product prototypes to identify and solve design problems such as contamination containment, fluid stream mixing, and heat transfer.
